Tour Highlights
Your adventure begins early with pickup from your hotel in Cusco between 4:30 and 5:00 a.m. From there, we will set off on a scenic 3-hour drive to the trailhead.
After picking up all travelers from their hotels, we will drive for about 2 hours to the town of Pitumarca. There, we will stop at a local restaurant to enjoy a delicious breakfast, which will take approximately 1 hour.
We will then continue in the same vehicle for another hour until we reach Chillihuani, located at 4,700 meters above sea level. At this point, we will stop at the control checkpoint to pay the community entrance fee (25 soles for foreign visitors and 10 soles for Peruvians).
The hike to Rainbow Mountain begins with a 2-hour ascent covering approximately 4 km. Along the way, your guide will share information about the history, geology, and cultural importance of the area.
Once you arrive at Rainbow Mountain, you will have enough time to take photos, listen to your guide’s explanations, and admire the breathtaking scenery. Your stay here usually lasts around 30 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the weather conditions.
Afterward, we will begin the return hike through the Red Valley, a spectacular landscape of deep red mountains. The descent back to the vehicle takes about 2 hours.
Once we arrive at the vehicle stop, we will drive back to Pitumarca for about one hour, where we will stop to enjoy a buffet lunch.
After lunch, we will begin the 3-hour drive back to Cusco, aiming to arrive at around 4:30 p.m., bringing our memorable Rainbow Mountain tour to an end.
