Palccoyo is a multicolored mountain range located in Cusco, similar to the famous Rainbow Mountain, but with the unique feature of having three mountains tinted in ochre and reddish tones, crossed by green, blue, and white stripes. This lesser-known destination also features a remarkable stone forest and local inhabitants dressed in traditional clothing, accompanied by llamas and alpacas. Exploring Palccoyo allows you to admire spectacular landscapes and appreciate the vivid intensity of the mountain’s colors. Best of all, it does not require great physical effort, as the route consists of a light hike of approximately one hour with no steep slopes. Itinerary
The day begins early with hotel pickup scheduled between 4:30 and 5:00 a.m. From Cusco, expect a 3-hour drive to reach Palccoyo. Upon arrival, you will begin a 2-hour hike around Palccoyo Mountain to explore its picturesque landscapes.
The return journey to Cusco also takes approximately 3 hours, with the goal of arriving around 6:00 p.m.
During the trip, we will stop in the village of Cusipata for breakfast and lunch, each lasting about one hour. Our route includes picking up all guests from their hotels before heading to Cusipata, where a two-hour drive will take us to a restaurant to enjoy a delicious breakfast, followed by another hour of travel to the snowy Palccoyo mountain.
Upon arriving at Palccoyo Mountain, you will get ready to explore this captivating destination. Guided by our expert, you will discover the three colorful mountains and the impressive stone forest, with plenty of opportunities for photos, insightful commentary from your guide, and moments to simply immerse yourself in the area’s natural beauty.
After this memorable experience, we will drive back to Cusipata, a scenic journey of approximately 1 hour, where a delicious buffet lunch will be waiting for us.
After a delicious lunch in Cusipata, we will continue our journey back to Cusco, enjoying a scenic 2-hour drive through the picturesque Peruvian landscape. As we wind through valleys and pass ancient terraces, you’ll have time to reflect on the day’s adventures and take in the beauty of the Andean mountains.
